I use EFT a lot in my individual sessions, groups and telegroups. The main reason I believe so strongly in EFT is because it works! I have learned a variety of traditional therapeutic techniques and alternative techniques and I keep coming back to EFT. These are the top reasons I like EFT as a treatment option:
  • It is easy to learn and cheap to learn.
    You can visit www.garythink.com and download the 80 page manual for free. You can go to YouTube and watch videos on it. You can attend free Intro to EFT classes. You can read the instructions at the bottom of this page.
  • Once you learn EFT, you can use it home when you need it most.
    EFT can be applied to almost anything in your life you want to change. The hardest part about EFT is remembering to use it. If you remember to use it you can get rid of physical pain, change old habits easily, help yourself fall asleep, get rid of fears and worries and over all feel great!
  • You can use it alone or with trained professional.
    A lot of people can get great results by using EFT at home by themselves. When they get stuck or feel that EFT is not working is when I recommend they consult a trained professional. We all have blind spots and limiting beliefs that are hard for us to see. Working with someone else makes it easier to address and clear those blocks so that you can reach your goals.
  • Group work is are very effective.
    I had a woman come to one of my Intro to EFT workshops who reported having a fear of heights for her entire life. She stated it was almost impossible to visit her brother due to the stairs she had to climb to get to and from his apartment. With 5 minutes of tapping in a group setting of people who had never done EFT before, we cured her fear. She left the meeting, went to his place and ran up and down the stairs, in the light, in the dark, eyes open, eyes closed, etc. That is the power of EFT in groups.
  • Telegroups are very convenient.
    Telegroups are groups that meet over the phone. Kind of like a conference call. After you register, you get a phone number to call at the time of the group and an access code. After dialing the number, when prompted, you enter the access code and then you can participate on the call. Telegroups can have different formats and different levels of groups participation.
    Different formats include:
    The leader talks a lot and others just listen.
    The leader takes volunteers and works with them individually for a
    short time while other group members tap along and Borrow Benefits.
    The group members can talk and participate as much as they want.

EFT is an amazingly simple procedure to learn and use, which often has astonishing results. EFT has been referred to as emotional acupuncture as it using acupuncture points to release emotions. When the emotions are released many people report feeling freer, lighter and more able to make decisions based on what they want rather than what they feel.

EFT is based on the notion that our body has energy and that every thought we have has it's own energy flow. When the energy flows correctly we feel good, healthy and relaxed. When the energy flow is disrupted or blocked then the resulting feeling may be anger, guilt, fear, physical discomfort or pain, etc. This idea makes sense when we think about a "good" memory from our past and it makes us feel happy. Yet when we think about a "bad" memory from our past we often can actually feel angry, shame or fear in our body. Through EFT one can access the negative emotion through the thought or memory and use acupuncture points to fix the energy flow, resulting in the memory or thought still being present but the feeling no longer being negative.

There are many different ways to do EFT, this is my personal favorite and what I teach most of my clients and workshop attendees.
  1. Decide what feeling or pain you would like to work on.
  2. Make gentle fists with both hands and tap the fleshy parts together - while saying "Even though I have this ___________, I deeply and completely accept myself".
  3. Tap on the top of your head, while saying "this ___________".
  4. Tap with 3 fingers between your eyes, while saying "this ___________".
  5. Tap with 2 fingers on the outside of your eyebrow, while saying "this ___________".
  6. Tap along the collarbone, while saying "this ___________".
  7. Tap under your arm, while saying "this ___________".
  8. Tap the inside of your wrists together, while saying "this ___________".
  9. Continue as needed until you have found relief.
These are the basics of EFT, and my personal favorite way of doing it. There are many variations and different spots that can be added if you are not getting the results you desire. It is important to remember that although the technique is simple to learn, there are advanced ways of learning it and different things that can be said in order to personalize it to your goals. Many people are able to learn these by themselves. Other people prefer to have an individual session or attend a group session to experience the results first hand and learn different ways of tapping and different phrases to say.
