Thank your for taking the time to read about me and what I do. My intention in writing this section was to help you get to know me a little better. But as I write, I wonder can we truly get to know someone through a website? I don't have the answer to that and this is not a section where I try and sell you anything. What I can do is tell you a little about what I believe, how I see my work and who I am. My hope is that if you feel a connection that it will be something that will help your day be a little brighter, a little clearer, a little calmer.

I feel it is an exciting time in the work of personal improvement and therapy. As a traditionally trained Clinical Social Worker it is especially exciting to be able to offer new, faster and more effective ways to help people change their lives and reach their goals. Although there are many titles for my line of work, I have yet to find the one that truly describes what I actually do. I see myself as a guide, a mentor, maybe a coach, that helps my clients navigate the stresses and challenges of life.

Although I feel this is an incredibly exciting time to be alive, I also feel it is a very difficult time. There are many stresses of today that were not present in the past. There are many expectations from work, family, society, etc, that are almost impossible to achieve. We are bombarded with new foods, chemicals and technology in ways that often create a disconnect from nature and ourselves. Yet with all these challenges, I find that most people just want to feel calm, content and confident about themselves and their place in the world.

As everyone is different, it makes sense they respond to these stresses and new opportunities differently. Therefore, my greatest challenge is tailoring sessions to truly meet the needs of each individual. It is easy to find one technique, one vision of the world that seems to work and then try to apply that to everyone that comes to me. I fight that temptation daily, as I feel to try and use the same thing over and over again might be easier for me, but doesn't really meet the needs of the individual seeking assistance. So although I have a toolbox of techniques that I mentally rummage through, the truth is that I pick different techniques that fit the problem, the person, and the place where they are at. I try to put myself in the place of the person to truly understand what they are going through and then I take myself out, to figure out what is the best way to get to where they want to go.

I can't promise a perfect path, but I do promise a guide on the journey of life that won't run when the pitfalls are deep and will offer unconditional acceptance and support no matter what. The people who seem to benefit the most from my work are those who are ready to make a change but are not sure how to do it. They appreciate honesty and have the commitment to follow through on their goals. I can provide the tools to make reaching the goals easier, but I can't create goals for someone else nor can I tell them what to do. I love helping people figure out what they want and how to get there and then hearing about how they did it. I believe it is honor when someone trusts deep enough to share their thoughts, feelings, dreams and fears with me. I never take that gift of sharing for granted and do everything I can to treat it with the care and attention it deserves.

Thank you for reading and I hope you find what you are looking for, today and always.

Wendy Koebel has a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Psychology from Washington University in St. Louis and a Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Michigan (MSW). As a Therapist and Life Coach, she has been helping children, teens and adults overcome obstacles in their lives and improve satisfaction for over 15 years. Wendy has been trained in a variety of clinical techniques including Hypnosis and EFT. She has found the combination of these two powerful techniques to be a safe effective way to treat anxiety and fears.

In an effort to help as many people as possible I offer a wide variety of treatment options.

Phone sessions are the same rates as individual session, please see below. The advantage of phone sessions is that you save on travel time, can work from the comfort of your home or office, and have all the benefits of a face to face session. I call you so you do not have to pay for the call. Although traditional therapy has stressed the importance of face to face sessions, I have many clients that enjoy the freedom and flexibility of phone sessions and feel they are just as effective, and sometimes more effective, as sessions in my office.

Email sessions are therapy sessions over the internet through email. People who chose this option often prefer to type out they questions and problems and read my responses. This is normally done as a support between sessions but some people prefer this to phone or face to face sessions. The advantage to this is that it allows people to be very specific in what they want to address and many who chose this option feel they save time and money by this ability to be so specific.

Video sessions

Video session through the computer are a great way to have face to face sessions without the inconvenience of travel. SKYPE is a free system where if you have a video cam for your computer we can do the session through the computer. It is also possible for you to see me and you would not need a camera. Please call or email Wendy for more information.

Individual office sessions

I do have limited availability in my office for individual sessions.

Please call or email me for more information.
